PROVENANCE: The week before Christmas 1964 I spent in London together with my sister. I had just turned 19. Through a friend I had made contact with John Fanning, the manager of Sounds Incorporated, an instrumental band I knew of. John invited us to come to the Hammersmith Odeon Theatre where they were rehearsing “Another Beatles Christmas Show.”
We attended the rehearsals for two whole days. We could move around as much as I pleased in the theater. So we met and talked with the other bands and singers in aisles, corridors as well as in loges. Lucky for us, all of the band members and singers who were present during those two days, willingly gave us their autographs. At lunchtime on my first day, the Beatles tried to go out to get something to eat, however outside the Theatre there were too many screaming fans so they quickly had to turn back in again. Therefore I and a few others, who were not so famous, went out to buy some lunch for them and us.
The two days were full of music and singing. It was all made in a very lively and humorous manner. The band that took rehearsing most seriously was Freddie and the Dreamers. The Beatles on the other hand (John Lennon, Paul MaCartney, Georges Harrison and Ringo Starr), were mostly joking around on the stage. They obviously didn't take rehearsing that seriously. Though they were often present when other bands rehearsed.
At one time I sat in the front row when they were rehearsing. Ringo saw and asked me about my silver ring, which I had made myself in a jewelry course (silversmith work). He liked it and asked about it, but I kept it. Rehearsing bands and singers
