Description
Very rare souvenir from the Hotel Astor in New York City. 5 1/2 inches in diameter. Marked - Made by L. Straus and Sons for the Hotel Astor and "Germany" on the back. Its about the size of an ashtray, but there are no cigarette rests, so I believe this would be used as a calling card dish or perhaps a candy dish. The design of the Native-American is raised and it very finely crafted. It is a porcelain or ceramic dish with a bisque finish. Most likely hand pained. There are no chips, but it does have a hairline on the bottom right. Just a great piece from my personal collection. Time to find a new home for this rare dish.Domestic shipping and handling in the U.S. is .50. Foreign bidders are welcome with the shipping costs to be determined after the auction is finished. I will combine shipping. I have decided to sell my collection of antiques (and other nice items), which I have been collecting for the past 30 years. Good luck with your bids.
