MICHAEL JACKSONHair catches fire during filming of 1984 Pepsi commercial
This is one of only two photos that I could find taken of Michael Jackson when he was put in the ambulance after the accident. Both were taken by Lennox Mclendon. If you do find other photos, they all show photo credit to Lennox Mclendon.
This photograph was taken by award winning Associated Press photographer Lennox "Red" Mclendon
Sale is for one
original
black and while 35mm slide (from the estate of Mr. Mclendon)
While this is a slide now, I believe that Mclendon cut it from a 35mm film strip and put it in a plastic slide holder that snaps open and closed. Not something you normally see.
The second photo that shows the full
slide looks blue because I held it up to the sky for the shot.
It is truly a black and white film used my most newspaper photographers.
This is a very unique item for the Michael Jackson collector!
The following can be found below another photo by Mr. Mclendon. it was published in the San Diego Union-Tribune. I only found this one negative (that I am offering) in his personal collection. I am assuming that the one shown in the newspaper resides with the Associated Press. I am thinking that he only had time to squeeze off a couple of photos before they closed the door. I could not find any other MJ "Ambulance" photos online. I do think that it is very rare! Notice that McLendon has photo credit for the photo.
FILE - In this Jan. 27, 1984 file photo, singer Michael Jackson looks out from an ambulance as he arrives at Brotman Memorial Hospital in Culver City, after suffering second-degree burns on his scalp while filming a Pepsi commercial, according to officials. Us Weekly magazine has obtained video it says shows never-before-seen footage of Michael Jackson’s head catching on fire during filming of his 1984 Pepsi commercial. (AP Photo/Lennox McLendon, File)
