The automatic line starts with a high-quality 1/2" chuck supported by a pair of sealed ball bearings. The shaft end is a standard quick release accessory, suitable for any cordless or corded electric drill...even an impact driver. The chuck holder is equipped with a pair of poly Tetrafluoroethylene sleeve, used to ride on two stainless steel posts to keep the chuck completely vertical when drilling. One post has a spring to help you control your cutting, and the other post has an adjustable stop ring . Note that there is a taper on the stop ring column. Stop only by pressing with your fingertips to keep the position... When it is locked to the taper, it is almost impossible to knock the stopper out of position.
-Line's base has a laser-engraved centerline around the opening. Just align the bright white index mark with the witness mark on your stock to get the precise hole location. There is a V-shaped groove on the base, which can safely drill round blanks. The opening in the base allows a G A P for the drill bit, which can be up to 1 inch. When you need to drill a hole larger than 1", just remove the column cover, turn the chuck bracket so that it is on the outside of the base, and then drill a hole up to 2".
When you need the hole to be centered on the board, install the centering pin on the base and rotate it until one pin fits snugly on each side of the stock. Your position is now completely centered. It is suitable for stocks up to 3-1/2" wide. The centering pin can be conveniently stored on the top of the base when not in use. We processed an Allen key to install the pin to the bottom of the column cap... You never have to Sort the coffee cans filled with Allen wrenches to find the right one.
The multifunctional fence is adjusted to the base along a pair of stainless steel guide rods. As shown in the picture above, the fence can be slid under the base to work close to the edge, or rotated to get the maximum distance. When you work on narrow edges, place fences so that the wide surface provides extra support. Also, when you are not using the fence at all, turn it so that the thin edges provide "legs" to improve stability. The base is drilled and tapped on all four edges for fence guides...right, left, front or rear...there is always a direction to extend the fence.
